Endgrained and spliced veneers
« on: May 10, 2015, 02:11:00 PM »
Has anyone ever used endgrainedwood for spliced veneers? I'm thinking about using some End grain marble wood in a splice veneer.

As long as it doesn't need to bend too much to get glued up you should be ok. I used some end grain pieces for the accent strip between spliced lams and unfortunately it failed when I inflated the airhose....I only noticed when I peeled the masking tape off.

Ralph when i do smething like that i glue one of the parallel lams to the spliced lam first than sand it to thickness before gluing it up with the rest of the lams. This keeps the splice from breaking. Do a dry run with the end grain to see if it holds up.

Galen and Mike,
I think I may give it a go, all I have is bad clear glass so what is the worst that can happen?
