What would be the best use for ash slats.
Backing on monk?
How would it work as a belly wood with bamboo?

I don't think ash would handle a boo back well. It would be a good core wood. You could make a 2 or 3 lam bow with a rawhide backing.

It makes a great backing wood. Very good in tension.
