Bow Form and Fiberglass Questions
« on: September 13, 2015, 05:23:00 PM »
Have a couple of questions,  Is there a difference in Gordon Composites glass and Bearpaws?  Any preference on which to use?  Also is it better to make a form using the clamps to apply pressure or the air hose method?  Which is better in the long run?  Thanks in advance to any responses.

I'm not sure about the fiberglass all I have ever used is Gordon's, but about the form I prefer the air hose method because clamps can get loose while in the hot box and I tried the rubber bands before and most of them popped in the hot box and ruined that bow.

I have only used Gordon's glass.  Never tried the clamp method but, have used the rubber band method with good success.  I would suggest you go the air hose method because you will want to give it a try sooner or later, overall I truly think it is the best method.  I now only use the rubber band method when trying out a new bow design, it allows me to build the bow without building the upper half of the form.

Gordon's glass and air hose
- There's a reason that's the way most professional do it.

I tried Bearpaw couple years ago, not for very long I might add! I go with the air hose method too.

I use Gordon's glass, but not the clear.  I use a rubber band form but not a bow oven.  I'm not in that big of a hurry.  I let Florida heat do its thing.
