Interesting story
« on: January 12, 2016, 11:33:00 AM »
Just found this story and thought others might also find it interesting. Author is not terribly well educated in bowyering but explains things well for other neophytes.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. Exciting to see a bow from so long ago!

Is that why it broke. It's the right weight at least.

The old man probably went to bed 3 hours ago.  He will see it in the morning.

Very cool and but I would think the replies to the post is correct in that it was a childs bow at just over 51".

Does anyone have a diagram of that cross section they are talking about.

make me wonder about the wood too. What hard wood. Did the have a hedge cousin over there?

Maybe elm?  It was a well used bow wood in the centuries preceding the classic English war bow.
