Width change verses poundage on a R/D Longbow
« on: January 23, 2016, 07:14:00 PM »
How does width change, affect poundage on a R/D Longbow? An example would be a 1 3/4" wide limb reduced to 1 1/2". What would be the drop in poundage?

today Ricky I took a 1 1/4 wide slight rd longbow done to 1 1/8 wide. I took a 1/16" of both side for probably 2/3 of the limb and left the tips as they were. I dropped it from 60# to 56#. I suppose a lot would matter on bow design, but I say dropping 10% of the bows draw weight would be easy on most bows.

Width reduction and weight reduction are proportional.
Half the width = half the weight
