simple Bingham question
« on: January 27, 2016, 04:39:00 AM »
Hi all, just a little clarification needed...

I hear say that Bingham's draw weight charts are pretty accurate. Do stack height figures include the glass and if so, which thickness of glass?

Thanks,
Jan

Yes glass is included. It doesn't matter which thickness of glass. It's the total stack that matters most.

I spoke with a bingham rep last week he recommended .04 glass for bows under 50# and .05 for glass over 50#. He said this was a general rule of thumb but not set in stone

Jeff - I have to somewhat disagree.  Yes, it is the total stack that matters most, but I've found that moving from 0.040 glass to 0.050 glass will increase draw weight a few lbs more than simply adding 0.020 thickness of laminations.

Thank you, I'll be using .040 and just stick with Binghams calculations, sounds like the perfect starting point.
