Recurve plans
« on: January 30, 2016, 06:14:00 PM »
Hey guys I just finished my first binghams d/r 64. Turned out pretty heavy at 60# 27 inches just like I planned but now im wanting to try something along the lines of a 50# recurve.

I really like the shape of the black widow PA 2 1 piece recurve. Does anyone have links to free recurve plans or plans I could buy that might be similar to this style. I tried looking on big jims but couldn't find the plans everyone talks about him having. I also found the free sweedish bow plan but Im gonna pass on that particular bow.

I appreciate any feed back on attempting a recurve build as opposed to the bighams r/d build I have just completed. I will use the binghams recurve plans as a last resort unless anyone has an exceptional case to make for them.

Thanks!
Ty

If you have access to a bow you like, take measurements from it for riser length, width tapers and thickness tapers Then trace the limb outline onto a paper or something suitable for a form template.

I don't have access to any other bows, I saw this recomended in some other threads. I am not sure how academy or bass pro would take to me tracing one of their bows onto butcher paper lol

Get some thin strips of steel and use them as French curves. Then you can make whatever design you can think off. You don't need to copy an actual bow.

Thanks Mike I'll see what I can come up with. I would like to see big jims bow plans if someone has a link I wasn't able to find them on his site.
