Alright here's the situation. I have an old 60" 45# York Crest. The bow is in need of some "care". The two piece riser has developed a small crack, the finish is about a 1/4 of the way gone, and the upper limb tip has enough twist to jump the string out of the groove.
Crack isn't bad yet. I think some super glue and clamps should take care of it.
The finish, no biggie. Just refinished an old Darton and it turned out great.(Thanks to those that advised me on the satin finish on that one!)
Now for the limbs I have an idea!?!?!? I've been contemplating a static conversion.
My idea:
Trim limbs 1 to 2"(current string grooves are deep and narrow)
Narrow tips slightly to reduce physical weight
Add light weight lams to to recontour and stiffen tips.
single lam back, multiple lams belly
Thoughts???
Am I crazy???
Or is this just crazy enough to work???
