Winged elm
« on: June 18, 2016, 02:12:00 PM »

I am thinking of using this winged elm log for trilams.  Do I need to be concerned with the white wood vs heart wood in a lam or should I try to keep it all on one.

If you use it as a core lam, it won't matter.  As a belly lam, I honestly don't know.  IMHO, I'd go for a selfbow instead if it's a good stave.
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.
