Power lam vs riser length

Just wanting to make sure my thinking is logical. Some times I over complicate simple ideas.
Would a 16" riser with belly side power lams extending 1" past the riser be equivalent to an 18" riser?

Only if it has the same degree of angle from the tip of the fade.

I'm kinda confused..... How could it have a different angle if it is sandwiched with the riser between lams?

I think he means the same rate of taper as the riser fade, so it carries the equal stress on out to the tip of PL.

As in 1/16" per inch for example.

Right, If you were to taper each side of the power lam from the center of the lam to the tip the tips would do very little in the way of extension because they would be so thin. If you measure from the center line to the end of riser and then taper from the point of the eor to the end of the wedge you would have the right degree of angle. The power lam has to be the correct thickness to make the length come out where you want the power lam to end. Its not as difficult as it seems but does take a little time.
I do it mechanically by clamping the power lam onto the riser and running a straight edge down the riser ramp and marking the power lam on each side. Then marking the length I want the power lam to extend and mic down at that lenthand this tells me what to take off of the power lam for it to come out right. Comes out good every time.
