Laminated bow blank tip and grip overlay glue...

I will soon be tackling a bow blank. This time around the limb tips aren't glued on and I would like to add a grip overlay for aesthetics. I've been told Loctite ultra control gel will work well for the limb tips and that Loctite two part epoxy will work well for the grip overlay. If this is the case, that would be great because I have plenty of both, but if there is another adhesive that would be better for the task, I'm all ears.

Use smooth on if you got it for the grip. You can get by with CA on the tips ok.

Smooth on it is. My next question, is when I use smooth on, should I heat cure it? If so do I have to worry about delamination?

No worries on heat curing- let it set up for 24 hours and you will be fine.

A little bit of heat will make it cure faster but not needed if you go 24 hrs.

Always be careful when using heat on bow tips..the weight of the clamps can put a twist in your limb if the epoxy "softens" from the heat. I have used a single 100 watt bulb about 12 inchs from the tips, bringing the area at the tip up to 100 degrees, I have a thermometer to check ambient temp. I don't think I have used smooth on for fiberglass and phenolic tips for the last 5 years..I have used blue cap Gorilla super glue since 2010 On almost every bow limb tip.  Smooth on is the best choice overall though..

I use CA from Wally world, the black tubes 4 for $1.57 for all overlays. Haven't had a problem in over 5 yrs.
