nocks and tuning

looking for some help! What do you use to remove a brass nocking point on the string? I have heard about using dental floss as a nocking point, but how do you secure it on the string?

Also, what is the best paper to use when paper tuning! I tried some newspaper, but that did not work too well. Could not clearly make out the tear. Maybe newspaper is not good for this.

For removing the brass nocking point, I use diagonal cutters.

Newspaper is what I use for paper tuning.  It's probably because I'm cheap, but I find it works well for me.  The point entry starts the tear and the ragged end of the tear is the fletch.  I do secure my paper at all four corners to keep it from waving around with the hit.

You can buy special pliers to put on and remove brass nockpoints ... I'd expect any archery dealer to have them. I don't like string wraps(floss, serving, etc.) for nocking points because strings stretch and nock adjustment is sometimes necessary and it's a pain removing string wraps, esp. if you've "locked" them on with glue, and risky to nick the serving. There are large and small brass (and aluminum) nock points and the small have always been all-around best for me, on all bows. Once you have the pliers, there's no more hassle. dave

Thanks for the help. I am trying to teach myself more about bow tuning and want to set the brace height for my old Kodiak Magnum. In the process I want to learn how to add a new bowstring and get shooting right. Thanks.
