Hey Roy!
« on: January 22, 2018, 03:23:00 PM »
With this blizzard going on I decided to start building some bows.  I have a osage selfbow in the caul cooling down after a straightening session.  Next up is your glass D/R longbow.

What kind of riser/grip do you prefer?  Here is a pic of the two I made last summer.  The brown glass walnut striped riser has a bigger riser/grip, but is still fairly narrow and the bow is a bit heavier.  The black glass bow with red stripe is a much smaller riser/grip making it very light.  Both feel comfortable to me and I really don't shoot one any better than the other.  Not sure on what I will make the riser out of - whatever I can find in the shop!  Or maybe I should order something in "pink" from Kenny?

Enjoy the hunt!  - Mitch

Thinner handle with a high pistol grip. I love medium colors with black overlays and highlights.

What, you just drink what's on sale or somebody brings?  Never the same kind.

Had a bud once that would say " Let's go drink some beer. Ya got any money?"

Had.........
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Hey, that was the finest of head wear a few hundred years ago. :-)

Most of the beer I drink somewhat resembles used diesel oil. In appearance only of course.

Take your time, Mitch. It's just roughed out. Have another bow to tiller ahead of yours. Be at least a month or more.

I drink that beer so the guys who come here don't like it. More for me. LOL

Take more time, Mitch. Realized today that I used too thick a core lam in this bow. I may not be able to get it under 55 pounds without some major wood removal. Which I would rather not do.

That is funny!  Going to have to call you the "Richmond County Comedian".

That is ok Roy, I didn't like the looks of that first one anyway!

Weather permitting I plan on grinding some lams this weekend.
