1.75" or 1.5" limbs for a recurve
« on: February 04, 2018, 11:42:00 AM »
I've got the itch to design and build a recurve bow. I want to make the limbs 1.5", but most that I've looked at have 1.75".... if I go wit the 1.5" will I run into trouble with limb twisting or any other issues???? I know I will have to increase my stack to get lbs I want, but wondering if there orther reasons not to use 1.5"

I prefer 1.5, and all ILF limbs are about 1.5, which should tell you something when that's what the top shooters in the world are shooting.

I'd go with the 1.5 too.  As far as stability goes, stabilcore is your friend!

1.5 is the way to go.  Add a strip of uni-weft.  I've built dozens of recurve like this.
