A couple of things that I tried was to purge the cache, and then doing a complete shutdown.  Didn't help.

it really appears to be a session cookie problem, as describe above.  if so, the question is why isn't your server accepting cookies from trad gang?

maybe they think we're bad guys.

here's part of an email i sent to trad ganger having the same problems using an i-pad ...

it's not unusual for a net/broadband provider to block incoming data from some servers because this data is thought to be from spammers, hackers or buggers.  the data can be emails or data downloads .... or cookies.  this is becoming very very annoyingly common.

for the most part, if a lot of spam appears to be emanating from a specific server, your server can deem them spammers and block inward data coming from them (their server, i.e. - tradgang.com) to you (your server - i.e. verizon.com).

lots and lots of worldwide spam is done via relaying off host servers ("zombies" - where the bad guys hack your pc without you knowing it and use your zombied system to relay spam and other badness and it all looks like you did it).

Maybe this is related to what you just described, but I think it was early last week, I got a message, or maybe it was a web page, that Tradgang was down. Must have just been for maintenance, but my mind read that as an upgrade. A mind is a terrible thing to lose!

Anyway, I'm not have an issue with my desktop system, so maybe it's not the isp that's creating the problem?

I might try putting Firefox on my phone and see that might fix things up for me.

Thanks for the quick response.

Happy hunting!

last sunday i took the system down for 5 hours to prune out the old classifieds ads.  yeah, takes that long.  we're kinda big.  there were no forum operating software changes.

if you have no problem with your desktop, is the operating system apple or windows?  is your smartphone/tablet runnng apple or windows?  do either share the exact same server or different servers (one for land line and the other for wireless).

i have lots of pcs that run linux (and one that works the dreaded windows if need be, and no apples).  all are accessed via verizon cable broadband.  however, my flip top cellphone is also verizon.  both use very different servers.

Rob,

I use Fedora 17 on my desktop. My ISP is ATT.

I downloaded Firefox for my phone, tried it, and didn't like it, so I un-installed it. Went to PowWow and opened profiles from various posts, and they opened just fine! You speak, and the app responds! Such power...thanks!

It appears to be o.k. now. Replied to a post and that worked too.

Really strange. Yesterday, I was trying to get to my profile thru a post so I could show someone my profile photo, and I had the login issue. I tried it later in the day, and still had the problem. Now it all works.

Sorry to have bothered you on this fine Sunday.

I only get the error message when I am using the cellular (3G) network. As long as I am connected to any wi-fi network things work fine. I can turn off my home wi-fi, defaulting to the cellular network and I cant post but as soon as I turn on my wi-fi things work again. Hope this helps and thanks Rob for looking into it.

what error message are you getting?

if you could do a screen capture (print page to an image and save) and email that direct to me [email protected] that would help a bunch - thanx!

Same problem here most of the time. I am using a nexus 7 tablet. Only happens on at&t 3g cell service.

I finally paid attention to when I am having the problem: Everything is  o.k. when I'm on WIFI, but it doesn't work when I'm on AT&T 3G. I need to make a few phone calls to get this resolved.

I am now trying to connect at a McDonalds resturant as I have not been able to post in weeks using my AT&T service, I could think of better words than frustrating to describe my feelings but I better not !

If this post shows up it means I to can post if I'm not connected to AT&T !

Dan

Edit: I see I too can post if I'm not using AT&T, I was not going to change providers until spring as I will need to get wired for another provider. It's gonna be a long winter without being able to post on tradgang    :dunno:

All the same problems with both IPhone 4S and iPhone 5. Both on AT&T. Can browse fine when not logged into Tradgang. When I log in cannot browse past page 1 OR post.  Real pain.  Everything  works fine on WiFi.

there are known issues with smartphones and the at&t wireless network and some online forums such as trad gang.

one fix has been to make sure your smartphone browser is google and not bing.

My phone is now working on the 3G network. Maybe my posts on the ATT forums did some good!

A new issue has cropped up in that most photos don't show up, though it doesn't matter what network I'm on. This appears to be a browser (the built-in one) issue on my Android phone. Tried Firefox, and it displays the photos, but what ugly rendering of the web pages! Will it ever end?
