Also from ND I apply in the toughest draw in our state. Not by choice, just where I live. I have drawn two permits in about 15 years of applying. A good friend of mine has drawn three years in a row. Go figure. South Dakota is more generous and with a little luck (and a fair amount of money for non-residents) you cold hold up to 13 tags. They also have unlimited archery only that runs concurrent with the regular season.

I want to try NE turkey sometime.  I grew up in Beatrice, but have never been able to make it back during the spring, and this year I will be too late.  I have access to a winter spot where my brothers see a flock of 200+, but don't know how it is in the spring for sure.

This year while late deer hunting, we had shotgunners blazing through the woods slaughtering turkeys on the last frigid day of the season.  I'd love to try it in an archery only season when the woods can be quieter and a bit safer (since turkey hunting is easily the most prone to accidents).

Minnesota has an archery tag , but they make you hunt the worst part of the season, the very last two weeks and you are sharing the woods with shot gunners as well.

I love Nebraska. I'll be there again in early April. Killed a tom last year with one of Little Trees self bows

MN is also on the lottery system..About every third year, I draw a tag...Of course like Littlebig said, you can archery hunt the last two weeks if you applied and did not get drawn..better than nothing but tough hunting!

Arwin,

I have brought this up with MBH many times.  We should have an archery tag that starts a week early and then runs concurrent with shotgun season.  Guaranteed tag good for any unit.  They are not interested in presenting it to the NRC...leaving for Kansas Friday, have a 3rd season Iowa tag, didn't bother buying a tag here.

I have your info printed out Dan.  Will try, but we are trying to pack a LOT into next week.  Going to try to find some deer hunting spots on the border too.  Good luck on the gobblers!
