My First Turkey From The Ground...
« on: October 23, 2011, 02:45:00 PM »

This is the bird I got this week on our annual Cool Springs Hunt.I shot her at 12 yds from the ground.I was shootin my Morrison 54" LB with a magnus II and FMJ arrow.
I got in the woods and and decided to hunt the woods edge where the deer trails entered the fields.I made myself a ground blind from limbs and pices of a deadfall situated right behind a clump of bushes seperating me from the fields' edge.I heard the vocals from the birds feeding from up behind me.I slowly peeped over my left shoulder and saw them feeding my way, heck they were already within 20 yds.I noticed the closet hen was approaching slowly to within 1o yds.I didn;t move a muscle,I waited and she started to walk away,I slowly raised my bow and began drawing as she headed away.I released when she turned away at 12 yds and watched the arrow pass through her she jumped up in the air and took off and ran out of sight.I waited a few minutes and got my composure together.I couldn't believe what just transpaired.I decided to go in the direction she ran and see if I could find her. There she lay within 30 yds.Man i was stoked. This was my first bird from the ground. What a great moment to log in the ole memory bank.

Yeah..The super short A limbs on this 15 riser is a short one,but those carbon foam limbs at 49lbs is a shooter.
 Thanks

Nothing tops the feeling of shooting a turkey with traditional tackle.  Nicely done.

Excellent shooting! I just missed one by a whisker at about 17yds last night. I was disgusted, but it was fun, and my 12yr old daughter was in the stand with me.
