1st Bow Build for my 11 yr. old - a few questions

We are getting ready to string his 35 lb. recurve for the first time.
After determining which limb is stronger, i.e. bottom limb, we'll be ready to cut out the sight window - anyone see a problem going beyond the center line to allow for arrow clearance? How much beyond - 1/4" ?
The bow is based on the 60" plans from Bingham.
I'll try to post a picture or two maybe tomorrow.
Thank you in advance for helping a rookie.

Don't see a reason to go beyond center. Strength shouldn't be an issue, but still no reason to do it.

Thanks Charlie
Thought maybe we should go past center for arrow clearance - guess not.

Better not, there may be a strength issue depending on the riser material. With the low poundage this seems to be unlikely though. But you will get a different center of gravity for the riser which may react different than you like. Wood doesn`t like torque forces and you would add torque without any material for resistance. There is a reason one should not go past 1/4" toward the center

Thanks Roland. I was thinking that going past center would provide some clearance for the arrow, but I suppose it's not necessary.
The riser is cherry and maple - not the strongest but should be OK for the 35lb bow.
