how to make an elevated rest???
« on: March 21, 2008, 10:24:00 AM »
hey fellas.

Have an old Pearson recurve that I am trying to set up for turkey season.  The shelf is flat as a pancake so planned on using an elevated rest.  Do any of yall have suggestions for a homemade version or am I better off to buy a bear weather rest or some other commercially available rest??

Caleb
Oh squeaky treestand, how I hate thee!

Take a peice of leather laceing.  Cut it the width of the shelf.  Lay it on the shelf directly above the deepest part of the grip.  Cover with the soft side of velcro to hold in place.
It's not the arrival, it's the journey.

I like a good stick on elevated rest better, but if you want to shoot in a trad class you will need to build it up as Hatchchaser said. For a built up I like a small piece of peep tubing under velcro

You can make an elevated rest with a piece of flexible plastic from a milk jug or something similar and two sided 3M tape.

I just purchased a Pro arrowrest, light from the nocking pointfor about$4.50.  It is made of stainless steel and works great.  Never used one until buying two bows with non-radius shelves.  They are easy to install and setup.

take a wooden arrow the width of your arrow shelf and split it in half.  Glue half on the shelf and cover it.  Works for me.
