Not exactly a Robin Hood, BUT...
« on: March 21, 2008, 05:02:00 PM »
...Actually, it was more like a "Friar Tuck"...

My good friend Marty Wiseman came over to the house to shoot some today.  The wind was howling at near hurricane force, but we were determined to launch some arrows, and have a good time!

We shot for a while, and neither of us was having a banner day, in terms of accuracy.  We were shooting at about 18 yards, and I decided to place a small, plastic ball on top of a block target, in hopes of improving our concentration.  I managed to hit it once, and nothing would satisfy Marty until he matched my feat!

He screamed in elation when one of his errant arrows smacked the ball...      :readit:

Being the good friend that I am, I of course launched an arrow directly at where the ball USED to be!!!

Marty's jubilation turned rapidly to wails of despair when we went to pull the arrows...

We're still friends, but it was a close thing!!!

I always wondered what the inside of a CE Heritage looked like.     :saywhat:

About 7 months ago my good friend Curtis introduced me to traditional archery.  Before that I had never shot a bow in my life.      :knothead:

Always better to be lucky than good.  But that, my friend was both lucky and good!  That looks like more fun than shooting my buddies self nocks off!  :biglaugh:

Question is do you have the ball to do that again?

Splitting the wand! Well done! And you're really too modest, as that was the precise spot you were aiming for!

It's hanging on my bedroom wall, Jeff... LOL!

Just in case anyone here doesn't translate my particular brand of humor,  let me assure you that was entirely a lucky shot.  Marty and I had a lot of fun and laughter taking the pics and reading each other's posts.

Yup- I managed to do that the first time I went shooting my CE Heritage 150s. Was thinking to myself, "well, dang, I thought these things were supposed to be tough!"

I figure no shaft in the world- maybe an old solid steel fish arrow- would survive that! Glad to see I'm not the only one to manage a "lateral/direct impact test" on a CE shaft.

And for the record, I haven't been able to bust any other CEs quite so dramatically- but I did wipe out two cedars this weekend. At least they smell good.
