« on: May 30, 2018, 05:28:35 AM »
I bought this power file last year and I got impatient waiting for it to get here and finished the job by hand it set in the box tell today so I broke it out and gave it a shot , never by hand again its exstreamly controllable easy to get in the sight window and arrow rest it has adjustable speed it saves hours of shaping and sanding , the belts are easy to clean just touch to the giant eraser block its awsome love it !!

I think Amazon ,if your going to get it I highly recomend get the 60 grit belts to they last with out clogging , changing them is a bit of a learning curve , I could kick myself for not using it earlier probably could have built another bow in time savings !

I used to use the Harbor freight version, that one you have looks a lot nicer..the HF one broke a lot of belts.. It is a super handy tool and I also used it to shape bow tips. I got a jet spindle sander and retired the HF band file

Sweet tool!  It looks as if you could cut belt out of readily available 3x18 belt sander belts rather than buying expensive made-to-order 1/2" wide belts.

You could probably make belts out of the larger ones I'm sure , I have a spindle sander but it's nice to shape tips and handle while it's clamped up in one place it is a big time saver for guys like me that only have a couple hours here and there !  At any rate it beats the rasp and files, sanding blocks time wise !

Hope you enjoy it Chris I know your limited time to, I only had about 3 1/2 hours to work today got the handle/riser final shap , shaped the tips & hand sanded the glass , just some hand sanding to go and I will be ready for finish if I did it by hand it would have been double the time ! But Im slow 😃

3.5hrs is a lot! I don't remember the last time I had that long....well I do, before my 6 month old was born.
Thanks for the tip Ritchie.  I'll have to check it out.  Looks like you could sharpen knives with it too
