Bow sight question

My 6 year old son loves to shoot, and we have been shooting trad for a couple years now. He has some eyesight issues which cause him to struggle with depth perception. He is forced to shoot with one eye closed, making judging distance a real struggle. This issue will most likely never change for him, so he will have to learn to work through it. It was suggested to me that it might help him to have a single sight pin to use as a reference point for his distance. Thoughts? He has a Maddog Pup, but I don't want to tap it for a sight. Anybody have any experience or recommendations? Anybody have a similar issues? Any and all suggestions appreciated!

The only thing that comes to mind is taping a pin on the back of riser and after positioning to the desired yardage, peel back tape and apply a drop of Gorilla glue

I have seen guys use duct tape to tape a match to the riser to use as a sight  pen you could try that and if it helps it would would make a hole in the riser easier if not no permanent marks

You can watch the big auction sight for various vintage sights.  There are a number of them available that you can tape on.

Not sure that a sight will help his particular problem though.  To use a sight accurately, you have to know the distance to the target. A sight isn't going to help him determine the distance to the target.

At 6 years old, it may just be that, like most of the rest of us, he just has some trouble with accuracy, which may have nothing at all to do with his eyesight. Why is he "forced" to shoot with one eye closed?  I know some people choose to do it if they are opposite eye dominant.  If it's just an eye dominance thing, he could also switch sides.  No better time to do it than when one is young and learns quickly.

I've hunted for years with a small 1/8" strip of white electrical tape on the back of my sight window to align my gap at hunting ranges.

Long story short, he can only really see out of his dominant eye, even though both eyes are open. It is in effect shooting with one eye closed, and there isn't anything medically that can be done to change it. He does ok left and right (for a 6 yo) but really struggles with depth perception and understanding how to compensate for backing up, or stepping forward. Having a sight pin might just give him one less thing to think about. It may not make any difference, but if it gives him some confidence and makes it a little more fun then it's worth a shot.

What about just putting a piece of tape with evenly spaced horizontal lines on the back of the site window?

When you're shooting together, you can help him with the distances.  Site will help. Single pin/aperture is probably best.  Set it for some mid-range and he can learn to hold it a little low or a little high when the target is closer or farther.  Some improvement in depth perception will likely occur as he ages.
