Anyone try Solid Broadheads?

Yes I know they are expensive, yes I know most here will say your stupid to spend that much on a BH.  I’m not above spending money on a good head.  The 125 and 175 with 3/4” bleeders seem like they would be devastating.

If you're looking at that level of heads,  I would certainly take a look at Iron Will heads as well.

They should be devastating for what they cost! That’s 1.5x what my German Kinetics cost! I have a good supply of the GK heads, and have never found a head better than them yet, but wowser, I still can’t get over that price!!!!!

The German Kinetics, the true German made heads,  are about the same price now as well. 94.95 euros which is 109.98 for 125gr GKs.

I've been carrying them for two years in Alaska waiting to kill a moose.  Hope to have a report on success this fall.
Great head!  Got mine when we were working with Elite on the recurve.  didn't pay near that much money. LOL

If I was buying heads now it would be TuffHeads.

If you’re going to spend the money I’d go Iron Will, German Kinetic, or Valkyrie Blood Eagle over the Solid.

Wow! I have not bought any in a couple years. They have really gone up too. Good thing I already have a real good supply, and won’t need to be buying any anytime soon. I guess it’s like everything else these days. My friends all thought I was nuts for paying $75/3 when I was buying them.

I like the looks of the Iron Will! The Valkyries would be a nightmare for me to sharpen!

Durability. I have seen a lot of reports of heads bending, breaking, and otherwise not performing. Also, I am not a fan of the design. Its a large vented head with very little steel behind the blade to support it. Along with the weak design of the forward bleeder blades I just wouldnt spend the money on them when there are better options out there.

The Iron Will has been tested extensively and they are without a doubt one of the toughest heads out there, fly perfect, come razor sharp out of the box, and have a better design in addition to using better components.

As for the German Kinetics I have seen one test with them breaking which surprised me a lot. My father and I have put ours to the test though and I have never had one break so I will continue to use them. They come razor sharp, hold an edge really well, and are tough as hell.

The Valkyrie heads I have not tested very much but the components are top notch. The heads come razor sharp, hold an edge really well, and I really like the design as you have a large cutting surface that doesnt suck up too much energy which should lead to good penetration and a lot of internal damage. The tests I have seen show they hold up really well on bone as well.

For those reasons I would avoid the Solids, personally. I am no expert so if you like the Solids give them a shot and if they work then thats all that matters.

Shot my moose last fall with an Iron Will and it blew apart the shoulder joint with no damage to the head other than a slightly nick on the tip and a little cleanup on the edge. They are expensive as hell but they really do perform.

As for the Valkyrie I am already stressing about what to do with them when it comes time to sharpen! I am just now able to get a simple 2 blade hunting sharp so this 3 blade should be fun.

Isn't this broadhead similar but, at a much nicer price? Also, sold by a TradGang Sponsor. :-)

I'm thinking I might give these a try and see how they do.

I have a couple sitting at home. By no means are they a bad head, but they are nowhere near the same quality as German Kinectic, Iron Will, or the other high end heads. The steel is not the same and the quality of the components is not as good.
