Feathers
« on: July 02, 2018, 10:48:20 AM »
Been several years since I've ordered feathers. Last time I ordered I went with a brand other than TrueFlight and was very happy with them. The base was not ground as thin, but they were substantially cheaper than the TrueFlight. I need to order some more feathers, but cannot remember the brand name of those feathers and am wondering if someone can help me out? Thanks.

Ozark is all i will use anymore. The bases seem to be much more consistent than other brands, they are cheaper than gateway and trueflight and in 4 years of using them personally and in the shop i can only think of 3 or 4 feathers in total that ive had to cull. The other brands it always seemed that there would be 1 or 2 feathers per pack that i wouldnt use on a customers arrows

Gateway have always been great. They seem stiffer than TrueFlight and easier to work with.

Bases on the Gateways have always been too inconsistent for me

I tried these Ozarks 4.5 inch feathers and they are nice. They come in a mixed pack which I like and the quality is just as good if not better than the leading brands. I also bought some 2" and will try them on my carbon arrow set up. I mounted the 4.5's on my intended aluminum hunting arrows.

Thanks to all who replied. Biathlonman, Sagittarius is the brand, and if I remember correctly you were the one who initially referred me to them a few years ago. Placed an order with them today. Again, thanks to all who replied.

Sagittarius feather quality is unmatched and prices are the best.

How do you like that profile of feather?  Is it quiet?

I'm glad this thread came up. True Flight has good quality, but to me their prices are getting outrageous.

I googled it last night and apparently they deal through no one. Must order through them.

For those asking on the ozark feather profile yes they are very quiet. I love the 4.5 and 3.5 inch sizes

I also have been using the Ozark Target Maxx feathers for about the last 1-1/2 years.   I shoot 4-fletch mostly, so that low profile does keep them quiet.  I have even started cutting the 4.5" feathers down to 4" - easily done when trimming from the back - and they are even better.  Good feathers, and less expensive I have found, than True Flight or Gateway.  I have gotten all mine from Lancaster, in packs of 50.  I get multiple colors, and generally put 2 colors on my 4-fletch.  Helps me with visibility.  Never tried the Sagittarius feathers, but have always heard good things from those that have.
