Bow Cases
« on: March 25, 2008, 09:58:00 AM »
Pictured at the top of this sites Homepage are those green bow/arrow cases. I looked at them at 3 rivers and they are kind of softsided, they are not totally rigid. My question is, have any of you tried these and do you think they are adequate for protection during air travel????

If you are talking about the Viking Voyager cases, I have one for one piece recurves.  It is a PVC pipe with a fabric cover - very rigid. I use mine mainly to protect my bow in the back of the truck with other gear. I used it once for airline travel and did not have any problems. I understand that some airlines may  charge extra because of length - find out before you go. Zip tie the zippers together with extra ties in the case so that the homeland security guys can inspect and reclose without destroying the case.

The one I saw wasn't rigid. Stiff but nothing like pvc lined. The VV case sounds like what I'm looking for. Thanks!!

I have one for my arrows.  Has the PVC liner, cordura outside.  I wouldn't park the airplane on it, but it should hold up otherwise.

I have one from Three Rivers for my longbow and it is a PVC pipe lined inside and out and is very stiff.  I would not hesitate to send it through on an airplane!
