longbow teenager?

I need advice, my grandson is 13 and interested in learning traditional archery.  I do not have time to build him one yet, so option's for where to buy a decent one.

Check out St. Joe River Bows too, they make a great bow, and they offer a trade up program as well.

Graps I have a lighter set of bear TD limbs I can lend to the cause if you have the riser. I’d loan you a riser but my teenager won’t let it go.

Maddog or Black Rhino - both are excellent bows, and great customer service for youth.  However - if he's 13, he can likely handle any of the lighter weight bows you can find depending on his draw length, so 40 or 45 lbs at 28".

Be careful with too much weight.....my 12-13 year old was not ready to pull over 30lbs at his draw length.  I bought a Prairie Predator 37 @ 28 and it was too much for him.  Now I have enjoyed shooting that bow, that's for sure, we're keeping it!   But I had to go back and get him another bow.  I ended up with a Black Rhino  58 inch bow  29lbs @ 28 inches.  This he could handle just fine.   A year later and he hasn't shot his bow much lately.....into computers and guitars these days....suppose chasing girls is next if that hasn't started already--he's a little cagey about all that...anyway there will always be a bow here for him to use if and when he is wanting to....

The Big Rock Black Hunter Longbow is inexpensive, but a nice shooter. Plus it is a take-down, and you can buy different limbs as he grows into it.
