Arrows.... how heavy/ fast
« on: September 07, 2018, 12:59:32 PM »
Torn between arrows for the hunting bow.
470 gr carbon at 199 fps vs 585 gr aluminum at 185 fps...
Bare shaft of aluminum is a tad weak but both shoot well with 5" feathers.
Super Curves.....

Morrison Max 6 ILF
Mountain Muffler strings to keep them quiet
Shoot as much weight as you can with accuracy

It is a 53# Border Covert Hunter.  The suck up arrow weight really well and still remain very quick.

585 for sure. I'd rather have heavy than fast.

That’s 100 plus grains more and you only lose 14 FPS?

Heavy all day.

Another vote for heavy. ... I don't have a chronograph but my arrows are 60 gr and I think they're fast enough!

I like heavy also. What are the specs of your setup?
Never measure the mountain until you have reached the top, then you will see how low it is.

I would go heavy. You cite good speed along with this increased weight. That seems to be a very desirable setup.
