I shot a big MO doe a few years ago, and she whirled at the shot. The arrow cut her shoulder without penetrating, and embedded in her neck, partially paralyzing her. I was carrying three broadheads, and the followup shots were deflected by the multiflora rose she fell in. In desperation I approached closer with my knife in hand, but she was too aware and kept turning her front end toward me so that I couldn't stick her without getting in range of her front hoofs. She was trying to get me! I was carrying a brass head walking cane, and I beaned her in the middle of her skull with it. I'm glad there was no video of that. It was brutal. I don't know anyone else who has killed a deer with a walking cane.
