This morning was great. Got in the stand about an hour before light and was instantly covered up with deer. Bucks grunting chasing nudging, just going nuts. About 730 I see tines coming up the hill. A nice buck is 12 yards in front of me! What would be a 12 point was reduced to a 9 because of how busted up he was. I stood pondering if I should shoot him as he was an older deer but I couldn’t stop thinking about the slob that probably broke him up. He milled around giving me shot opportunities for a half hour. Eventually he found a doe and nudged her around near me and ran some smaller bucks off. Well 9:15 rolls around and a doe comes up feeding at 10 yards. She keeps looking back and I’m waiting to see a buck in tow but there was not one. A half hour goes by, still no buck in tow. She feeds up the hill and comes back around and at 10 yards quartering away. I draw and release. Arrow passes through at an angle under far front leg. Shot was liver and far lung. She kicked and ran 40 yards, stopped and began to wobble then fell and rolled down the hill. Great hunt! Great morning. Happy hunting to all. Normally don’t shoot does in November but backstraps just taste too good and I got tags so why the heck not!
I attached a pic of her laying dead from the tree. It’s nice to see them go down!
Bow was a 58" primaltech longbow 51@28 (I draw 26.5")
29" Easton Axis trad .500's with 250 up front.
Cheers,
Kevin
