We had a great week. The weather tried its best to say otherwise. Plenty of deer seen and was able to shoot a big doe. Kenny is a great guy and I already look forward to next year.

Not even sure where to start. I have been in touch with Kenny off and on for a few years now trying to get on one of these hunts. Things never worked out, but when he sent me a message this year asking if I was interested in the week after Thanksgiving I jumped on it. I reached out to a couple of friends I thought might be interested, one being Big Ed, and another being Seth Stevens. Both jumped right on board, and wheels were set in motion. Unfortunately, Seth had to back out as he forgot it was his daughters 16th birthday. We have been friends a long time.., and while I knew how much he wanted to be on this hunt, I also knew how much his daughter Autumn’s 16th was too.

If anyone has the opportunity to hunt at Kenny’s Missouri leases you really can’t go wrong. The accommodations are fantastic, the land has many opportunities for killing a deer or two. And last but not least Kenny is a true “Salt of the Earth” man. He knows the properties very well and knows the deer just as well.
 I know I will be back and hopefully becomes an annual trip for Dave and I and whoever may want to join us.

Congrats Ed, sounds like you and David had a great time.  You're right, it's hard to beat Kenny's hunt.  As far as the arm wrestling, I chose not to have an opinion

Whoa, hold on here.......I might have arm wrestled a time or two. So what if it was with my kids when they were twelve!!
So I made it home last night after two 12 hour driving days, but it was worth every single mile. As Ed said, Kenny is a great host and I already miss Missouri. A true down to earth guy that loves to bowhunt, kinda like Ed and I! And Ed, well, he is just a great person and a great hunting partner. While we have hunted small game together before, this was our first extended hunt for white tails even though we have been talking about it for years. We meshed like we have done it for years, and I can’t wait to do it again.
I’ll try to throw some pics in here as I go along, I kept a pretty detailed journal through the week. Let’s see if we can start with a sunrise

Kenny works hard to set stands and let you know where deer movement has been and important parts of the properties. We hunted the first morning in those stands, and then scouted a few different spots. We both picked a couple of spots and hunted both of those in the afternoon, I called mine the Bottoms Up Stand. It was at the edge of a big bedding area where a north/south finger come out leading to a bean field. That afternoon I saw 8 deer, including a good 8point that stayed 40 yards away in the field for over a half hour. A 5 point came by posing, as did a number of does, but it wasn’t time to drop the string.

We tried to not overhunt stands, and hunt them with the right wind. Ed had scouted the far west end of the property,it looked really good and we hung a stand there. That night Ed saw “thirtyish deer and shot a nice doe with a really solid shot. The doe only went 40 yards or so far when she went down, and there wasn’t  a drop of blood! When Ed opened her up all of the blood was in the chest cavity, and her lungs were destroyed!

To Kenny’s point, I hunted 9 different stands while I was there!
