Longbow suggestions for monkey arms

I'm toying with the idea of a 1 pc RD longbow but I'm blessed to have a true 31"draw.  I am under the impression that not all bowyer's understand long draw lengths. I've had my share of recurves and tried a longbow last spring.  The bowyer done a great job but his usual design is a 56",58" or 60" I tried a 60".  It was okay but I could tell I was at the back of the house when I shot it.  He offered to build a 62".  I bit.  It shot better as it was better on the draw cycle, but I never could get it as quiet as I wanted.  It got re-homed.

Make me some suggestions as what to look at.

Oh and I'd like to keep it under a grand and have it by next deer season.

I have the same Draw length, 66" Toelke Whip, and you could probably have it by New Year's or shortly after if you order it custom, quicker if you buy a stock bow. I've shot his 64" Whip and could feel it starting to stack at full draw. Yeah, people just don't understand all the ramifications of that long of draw do they, but Dan Toelke has a 30" draw I think I read somewhere. I very very strongly recommend his locator style grip!

I have a 32” draw.

My 68” Omega Imperial is a great bow.  It’s economical, consistent, fast, and has a big locator grip. I didn’t think it stacked until I got a super-recurve.  Kegan makes them up to 70” and accommodates up to a 35” draw.  I’d order another right away if anything happened to the one I have.

My 62” Striker RK1 longbow is also an impressive little bow. Stacking isn’t bad because of the long, working limbs. However, I do feel the finger pinch much more and I’m not shooting it as much.

I recently purchased a Galaxy Ember TD longbow from Lancaster Archery--needed a light weight bow to do some work on my target panic issues.  The Ember costs all of $199 and comes with your choice of recurve or R/D longbow limbs.  I got two sets of the longbow limbs, the bow is 60" and smooth as can be to my 31" draw.  Couldn't be happier.  Additional limbs don't break the bank at $89.  I have owned some top notch customs, and still have several on the rack, but the Ember does not take a back seat to them.  The grip is one of the best I ever felt.

I have a draw just under 32".  I am currently shooting a Striker Classic Longbow, 60".  I don't have any trouble with it.  I recently got rid of a Beeler 58" longbow because it stacked so bad at my draw.  When I was new to traditional I made the mistake of getting bows that draw to heavy not thinking about the increased poundage with each inch past 28".  Rookie mistake.  My Striker is 46 lbs at 28" and draws in the low 50s at my draw which is exactly what I want.

Odd man out here. I have a very short draw but prefer 68" bows. To me, they are just smoother than most other bows I have tried. So try bows of all different lengths until you find what is best for you. When pulling a longbow, your draw length may decrease just a bit, as a slightly bent bow arm is generally standard with this style bow. With the large number of  well performing bows available, you will find a good choice at whatever length you prefer. Good luck.

My 66" Black Widow LB is great at my 31".  My brother has the same bow, only a pound heavier, and he draws 32.5".  I've had mine since about 2009 and it has consistently put a smile on my face when I shoot it.  My only regret is that it is a hair shy of the 50# for hunting some critters in Alaska!

I also really liked the Toelke Lynx 3 piece, which I think was 66", that I borrowed for several months a few years ago.  Sweet, sweet, sweet at my draw.  But Dan doesn't make them anymore and you'd have to buy one used.

I shoot a Liberty Edge bow(66") TD and a Pronghorn(64")TD bow,   I draw at least 31".

I have a 32 inch draw and have 3 Raptor Signature longbows. Raptor Archery is a TradGang sponsor. Two are 62"and the other 64". I prefer the 62's. Very smooth to my draw. Stick with bowyers who understand a long draw. Lot's of people think you have to have a "long", longbow, but I find the opposite, if your bowyer understands and builds for a long draw. Enjoy the "Turbo"power of a long draw cycle. We are truly blessed. Scott.

The Liberty Chief is a very smooth drawing LB and is 66" long. If I shoot a straight grip longbow I lose about an inch of draw length vs a recurve.
