Bear claw
« on: December 21, 2018, 11:33:04 AM »
Can anyone direct me to a tutorial on making a bear claw necklace?  I thought there was one on trad gang but couldn’t find it.
Thanks,
Gary

A customer in Alaska who is a big game guide sent me 3  claws from a 9'7" brown bear. He had treated the bone part with Borax, it dried them out pretty good. I picked the biggest one and scraped the bone part to clean it up a bit. Then I drilled a hole for the cord to make a  necklace and  added a few beads.

I didn't put anything on the claw I just left it natural. It's not fancy but I like it.

Thanks Ron, that is great looking.  I am hoping to make a bear claw necklace for each of my nine grandkids from a bear I shot.

A boar is on the list, hoping next year.
