Is there some reason or some code amongst bowyers that bows should be built in even lengths?

I can only recall seeing a couple bows with odd lengths. Were these rebel bowyers?

I put a ASL, together last spring that was 67" nock to nock. The riser was 13"

I do a lot of odd length bows, mostly because I like asymmetrical limbs. So I just nock an inch off the lower limb or add an inch to the upper depending on weight and wood type. And typically with 4” handle and 2” per fade.

I have several 63s and 65s, mostly because I made them equal length and the bottom limb went weak, I cut an inch off to get the tiller back in line.

When I measure my bow for string grooves for a 62" string I measure from the belly...  I measure 64 1/8"...  Add the tip block and that adds about another 1/4"...  So you could say my bow is closer to 65"... I think of it as 64" because that's how I measure it...  When I write the bow size on the bow I write 62"...  That is the size of the string and that will take all of the confusion out of the situation when buying or making a new string for that bow... If they want to know the size of the bow when unstrung they can measure it them self and make their own decision...
   
 So I make a 62" bow because that is the size that really matters...  That is the size of the string and the size of the bow when it is strung... Who the hell uses a bow when it is unstrung anyway...

I’m with John. I figured it just made it easier for finding center working with whole numbers.

I mark my bow length as 3” longer than the string used.
