Bow style preference

I guess I am the odd man out today!  I love to shoot them all.  But give me a smooth pulling heavy riser recurve and I am in heaven.

I just picked up a beautiful Cari-bow Tuktu EX and it us incredible!

I like making several kinds with various materials and methods, but selfbows are my favorites to make and use and all I've hunted with for decades. They just require more of me and I feel more connected to them. Especially one of a kind osage and yew selfbows that test me during design and construction and in the end become worthy and trusted hunting bows. My best bamboo backed bows, glass bows and such stay home and wait our return like a beloved dog that is great in so many other ways, but one you just don't care to hunt with.

Thanks for all the reply's on this post.  I like re-curves but most seem to have honking long risers having short limbs which make them hard to pull the last few inches or they stack. My wood takedowns have short risers like 15-17" but have long working limbs which make them very smooth and quiet.  The R/D type are great and seem to be liked by many from what I gather.

I'm all about the short bend in the handle native american bows. Specifically the scalloped bows, with a slight flip in the tips, so a reflex/deflex short bow. I'll be working on one soon. I guess you'd say inspired by the native American bows, but with some of that high tech glass stuff

Started as a recurve guy. Mostly because second hand recurves were readily available at low prices.

A couple years ago I decided I wanted to build a bow. Went with a D/R and haven’t swayed yet. Guess my experience is still pretty narrow. I’d like to try other types, especially self bows. But I’m not gonna rush it. Too busy enjoying the ride
