Ridgid jointer, anyone?

Need a jointer for my small shop.  Anyone have experience with the Ridged 6” from Home Depot?  At $550 it seems like a fair value compared to some other with similar specs I’ve looked at.

I had one and loved it. I had to get rid of it when I moved from Wisconsin but it did everything I wanted it to. It was sturdy and cut well. The hardest part was putting the stand together with the motor.

I have one had it for years been flawless so far replaced the blades a few times but after exstensive use, blades are cheap & easy to align the bed and fence seems like good metal quality ,I really have no complants for the $$ ! Had it at least 15-16 years !

I had that one for a while.

Worked very well, but I sold it.

They are very dangerous and I didn't really need it for bow work.

Buddy lost part of his finger using one and that's when I decided to sell mine.

I know they can be dangerous, especially with thin material, but your buddy wasn't using push blocks?

I used push blocks to thin bamboo with no issues there safe if used right , I wouldnt be afraid of it , any thing can be dangerous if used wrong !

If used right they are excellent. I did take a fellow worker to the hospital to have the end of his finger stitched up. This was his first incident with 40+years of wood working. He said he wasn't paying attention to his fingers when running a piece of wood through.

Yes he was using a push block but the block broke and his hand flew forward.

I didn't say not to buy one, just not my ideal machine for bow work.
