Gold Tip Traditional Classic XT

Does anyone have any experience with these and what are your thoughts?

I have never shot any of the GT's with ballistic collars, so really don't know what to expect.

I am going to order some new shafts for one of my D/R longbows and just started thinking about these. I currently shooting Axis Trads with 2"footings with great results..

Should I stick with what I know or give the GT's a try?

I appreciate the help in advance.

I tried the 400 series last year. They are a quality product like other GT shafts i've used, and i think the smaller diameter shafts would provide an advantage in penetration with lighter weight setups.

My biggest complaint was the inability to use the standard .246" components (nocks/inserts). Durable arrows, but no more so than my standard GT's footed with aluminum shafts.
Less anger, more troubleshooting...

I’ve been shooting those gt’s for a couple years and I really like them.

I’ve been using them for awhile now. Can’t beat the wood grain with the footing look. For a skinnier arrow with a wood finish they are hard to beat. I’m not using the insert/ballistic collar system however. I am using glue on insert adapters. For carbon hunting arrows I don’t see myself using anything else. Very consistent.

Thanks guys,

Have you guys also compared them to axis trads?

I try a lot of different arrows out of my recurves and HP longbow/hybrids, but am just wondering if I should go the micro route out of my Primalstyk since the old axis trads that I had laying around seem to shoot so well. I only have 6 of those left so want to get another dozen for the bow.

Just wondering if I should go with the "if it aint broke dont fix it" mentality or try something different. In the end I am trying to stay as simple as possible with this set up, but also have a really durable arrow. With the axis I would want to go through the footing process again, but the GT's already have the collar which should work about the same in terms of durability...

I'm looking at these two BC I have an opportunity for a great deal for either.

decisions decisions...

I have both the Gold Tip Trad Classic XT and Easton trad axis. While both are quality shafts, I think the Easton shaft is of better quality.  I really like the collars on the Gold Tips shafts and wish I had them on all of my skinny carbons.
