actionwood/spectraply ?
« on: March 03, 2019, 08:13:08 PM »
I'm wondering if actionwood or spectraply can be run through a thickness planer without chipping or tear out? I make my risers 1 5/8 or 1 1/2 inches thick.

Not sure on a planer but the table saw doesn’t seem to tear much even when making the angle cut lams
Stay sharp, Kenny.

I have ran it threw the jointer with out tear out & cut the width with the band saw I would be hesitant to try it on my thickness planer because even in low gear it moves the wood threw at a pretty fast pace maybe try it with just minor thickness removal and see if you get tear out you have plenty of wood left to try a different method !
If you fear failure, you will never try ! But never except it!!

My planer has 3 straight blades so not sure. I'll have to try it a little at a time to see what happens.
