Back pain after shooting
«

I get this burning feeling in the middle of my back below the shoulder on the right side after shooting. I only need to shoot about 10 shots and it starts and hunts so bad I need to sit down. It"s been bothering me for a few years when I fish too long using lures and holding my rod out in front of me. I started going to a chiropractor about a month ago but so far no relief. Anybody else have this condition and what did you do to correct it? I also get the burning when bending over the sink doing dishes or washing the dog.

No, but it sounds like a trip to the Ortho for an expert evaluation. If it hadn't been going on so long I'd say it was a muscle tear.

It could be anything from the dorsal cervical joint, to the typical tilting of the vertebrae like many archers get, to a rib or two, to a muscle spasm. I make regular chiropractor trips, even though I shoot both left and right handed, the side that shoot the most for any given period will show in my chiropractors diagnosis. He get it right every time.

I have dealt with similar problems for 3+ years. Im only 29 but came to find out I have thoracic outlet syndrome. Would not wish on my worst enemy!

I can't speak to burning pain... I get really bad knots in my back muscles there though. I've found a tennis ball is the best for getting them worked out. I just lean against a wall and tuck it behind my shoulder then shift around until it is working on the pain points. You might try that and see if it helps.

There is a "masseuse" in the town three miles down the road, but you need to be very very specific that you are going there in daylight for a bad back, although everyone else will think differently.
