Sagittarius Feather Question
« on: March 25, 2019, 12:52:49 PM »
I normally shoot 4” shield cut on my arrows and were going to try some from Sagittarius, however, according to their website they only offer 4” in parabolic. They say that their 5” shield cut feathers are cut slightly larger than normal shields. For those of you that use their feathers, how much larger are we talking about? Pic comparing the 2 would be great. Thanks.

Not much help.  I cut mine an the chopper is a "Traditional" cut which is a slightly longer shield cut.  Steeper, longer feather angle on the nock end.

I've never used Sagittarius feathers before, but had a similar situation happen with 3 Rivers.  They put some 5” feathers on sale for a great price, so I bought 100, and now I chop 4” shields from them whenever I need some.  I also have used the 5” feathers without chopping them from time to time, when I’ve needed them.  Chopping your own feathers is a great way to go. Normally I just order full length feathers, but this was a better deal than full length.

Their shield cut is rather funny looking. Not a regular common shield by any means. Google up a pic of them.

As for their parabolic, they are a fair bit larger than Trueflight or Gateway. They don't taper as sharp on the leading edge, and are taller overall. Don't know if this pic will tell much, but these are 5" Saggitarius on an 11/32" shaft.

I was about to try and post a picture.  Then I noticed the guy above me posted my pictures for me. Lol I appreciate it .  As u can see the Sagittarius are a lot bigger in my opinion . And I don't like them. But that's also my opinion.
