Cheap carbon arrows not so good.
« on: April 06, 2019, 08:37:55 PM »
I do not have an archery shop in town so I either have to get to one of the towns an hour or more away or order online.  I wanted to get some new arrows so I thought that I would try some cheap carbons off Amazon.  Not the best of ideas.  Fit and finish were fine with black and red shield cut four inch feathers that were tied down with wraps of thread and the shafts were bare with no wraps so no problem there.   I tried my 125 grain points that I ran in my Beman Centreshot and 145 grain from my Gamegetter 2's, both 400 spine as were the new ones.  They flew okay but I was consistently to the left, way left so much that I missed the target all together and hit my plywood back stop a couple times.  My Beman and my Gamegetters hit almost the same even with the point weight difference but these were all over the map.  I did miss with my Beamans once but that was me pulling the shot to the right.  Grabbed the arrow twisted it around a couple times and pulled it out of the plywood no problem.  Did the same thing with the cheaper carbon and it split right at the front all the way to where the insert would end.  That was enough for me.

I know that you "get what you pay for" but I though that they would be fine for target practice and maybe stump shooting but I don't trust them.

Stump shooting is worse on arrows than shooting animals.

That being said... I would not stump shoot or  target practice with arrows I don't plan on hunting with.

I have yet to have the chance to shoot at anything but I feel the same way.
