My plan is to take a trip early March to Granger WMA, hang my hammock and hunt hogs for a few days.  Picked up a Magellan Origin 12 kayak that will allow quicker, silent access to some of the out of the way spots the piggies like to hold up in.  Plus, if I get tired of killing hogs I can fish a little.

Planning a trip a bit North to Granger WMA, kayak in to hang my hammock and then pester the hogs for a few days.  Still working on the "kitchen pass".  Probably, take the BR recurve.

I retired 6 years ago after 43 years as a Forester, have to say retirement is the best job I ever had!  :big laugh: I just got back from Africa and have been having lots of hunting adventures since I retired! I always told myself as soon as I retired I was going to hunt every time I could and I have done that, it's been great!! I've had some amazing adventures! You will love retirement and will wonder how you found time to work all these years!! Have fun and enjoy, you deserve it!

Made m first trip to Granger post retirement, solo which makes my wife crazy.  Me all alone in the Wilderness!!!  This was the maiden voyage for my Origin 12 kayak.  Much better than the canoe I have.  Still a good workout for a borderline senior citizen.  Did about 10-12 miles on the river over the two days (Thurs afternoon-Sat morning).  Camped at primitive with my hammock and pestered piggy's with my Big River 66# recurved bow.  Did see several beds and one that was dug into the ground and about as long as my strung bow (58").  Wind was towards the river most of the time I was there which worked well.  Did bust three (80#-60-60) out of a briar patch at the tail end of the field behind camp, just off the river.  They cleared the briars at @20 yards and were at 30-40-50-60 yards in a few seconds.  Would have worked much better with a group and have shooters posted on the sides at the upper end of the patch(out of the direct wind), so that when the pigs busted they would have had shoots.  Pushing pigs solo at Granger is fun, but tough.  Didn't see any hunters.  Spent more time exploring the river with yak for next time.  Not pork on the ground, but smile on my face and recharge of my batteries.

This is my sleeping arrangement.  Two trees and some nylon.  Then me hamming as I get ready to hit the river with all the gear required.  Then a Boar hog bed that he probably visits on a regular basis.  Bow is 58" strung.

It's a good feeling to get up and then decide what the day has in store.

TG retirees ought to have our own Rondie and hunt each other. Have it start on a Monday.
