No more ugly black carbon shafts

Found a neat way to make your black carbon shafts look like wood.  not perfect, but looks pretty good.
Spray brown paint on shaft, and while wet, wipe with paper towel lightly.
I found it easiest to spray down the length on one side, and wipe.  Then rotate shaft 1/4 turn and repeat.
Don't know what kinds of paint will last, but mine should hold up as good as anything.  I used a special paint called ep-acrylic, from Integrity Coatings.  Made for bath repair (what I do for a living).  It's a catalyzed finish that is similar to epoxy.
But ordinary spray paint may work very well.

May just be the pic, but I swear when I first logged on that I thought I was looking at bamboo arrows. Well, bamboo without the nodes, but bamboo none the less...

No poly needed, this stuff drys very hard and won't get sticky.  I have painted a truck hood with this stuff one time, it lasted for years with only a couple of chips from road rocks.
Can't speak for other paints that I haven't tried.
Bowspirit, it's just painted carbon.  I mixed up the brown (by adding tints to bathtub white) and that is what I ended up with colorwise.  Notice I have two different shades, because I mixed two different batches without trying to match them.

Frank, I knew that was coming.  And you are right.
Shawn, yes, I agree.  And I think it would look a little better if I made it even darker. Needs a little more red in it as well.  Maybe next time.

Those catalyzed varnishes are some really tough finishes.It should hold up really good.
