I always take two or three......and during the hunt I normally spend time with each one on stand. With bows I shoot alot I have no problem switching back and forth. On a typical hunt I take a mix of longbows and recurves, I'm not partial to either and shoot and hunt with both on a regular basis.

The harvest in my avatar would not have come to fruition if I had not taken a backup bow.

I never have taken a spare bow with me even out of state. I do twist up an extra string or two though. I check every thing over well before I leave and hope for the best. I travel pretty light though.

We sometimes take one spare between bro and I , had a mule wreck once and broke one. We shoot same lbs and both righty and same arrows so we are lucky I guess..
Always a spare string! Broadheads have no cares ( a friend told me) LOL

Have hunted throughout Canada, Alaska and Hawaii without a spare bow along. I just go and I don't worry about it.

I had a customer call while on a Colorado elk hunt. He'd come back to camp and leaned his bow on the front of the truck and went in the tent. his partner came in jumped in the truck to move it and ran over the bow. He went to town and called me. I put together a combo and mailed it next day general delivery and he had a bow and only lost two days.

All depends on who, what, when, where and how. If driving yes, if flying sometimes. If meeting up with buddies who have spare bows I know I can shoot, then I just coordinate.

Like others above I always take a backup. Extra limbs work great to save space but they must shoot the same as #1. Better safe than sorry.

I would not even think about paying for an ou trip and not taking 2 bows... I even do so only an hour and a 1/2 away from the house....Had it happen to me on the only Elk hunt I've ever been on... Leaned my bow against A tent.... 2 hours later it was delamed.
You're take spare arrows don't ya?!?!?!

I had a limb fail drawing on a doe a few years back. No way I’d go without one.

Glad for this thread. Guess I'll take the recurve as well as the longbow next month.
