Is spectraply the same as actionwood

Probably depends on the adhesive used in manufacturing. Or in other words, I don't know
Contact the manufacturer and find out the heat rating.

Yes it is widely used in risers. It is not the same as the old actionwood. I have made several one piece bow risers. For a heavier TD. I will Ibeam it.

Awesome! Define heavier? I'm building a 50# tdlb and will be laminating phenolic strips into the riser... would i still need to ibeam after that?

I think you will be fine with the phenolic.

They really have some wild color combinations.  Has anyone tried making limb laminations from this wood.

As. veneers it works well . Kenny does a double angle cut on it that make nice veneers.
