What to do with this Amarco?

I picked up an Amarco (66", 46#, 9C217) bow and a nice leather back quiver and a few arrows offa CL, for a reasonable amount. I saw right away when I went to look at it that it had a repair on the shelf, but I figured, hey, the price is right. It's not so bad...  After I got it home, I wiggled the repair loose, and took off the flipper rest that the previous owner had screwed on. I found a big cavity.    I think I'll fill the cavity with epoxy, patch the other screw holes, and cover with a large strike plate, but what to do about that corner? I think if I could get the unknown adhesive off both sides, I'd stand a chance at getting a better repair than the first one. Any suggestions for adhesive removal without damaging anything? What would be gentle enough not to hurt wood or glass? And, does anybody know how to age the bow? Is it a '59 because of the 9 prefix?   Thanks for any help!

as far as year I would say early 1960's. I believe 1959 would have a leather wrapped grip.

If you can’t get the piece cleaned up to fit back in place you could always file that part of the shelf down like Fred Bear’s. Good luck and post an after picture for us to see.👍

I used a brass brush to scrape the unknown adhesive off, then super glued the piece back on. There's still a witness line, but not awful. I filled the cavity and screw holes with epoxy, sanded it off, and shot over the whole thing with clear wheel paint. Then threw a '59er strike plate on, with a velcro rest. Here's pics.   And a thanks, wadde, for the early 60's guess. I strung it up and threw a couple shots into a bag in the basement, I'll need to replace the string, as I don't know the vintage of that, either. It still casts an arrow pretty good.

I have one more area to decide what to do, the previous owner must have had a sight on it at one time. Two screw holes, about 6 3/4" apart. A little bit of unknown goo still there. Doesn't match the glass. I may just put a single pin sight on for the heck of it, as it seems that may have been a typical '60s - '70s thing. And it will fill the holes.
