Hurst Amiable Initial Review 62” 47@28”
« on: May 24, 2019, 04:07:32 PM »
Well here are my initial thoughts on my Hurst Amiable from bowyer Coltin Hurst. Work has had me traveling a ton the last 8 weeks. Was finally able to get some time in today on the range at 10 and 20 yards. Haven’t got any arrows tuned perfectly for it yet but will update once I do. Shot Douglas fir woodies with 160 tips and 29 BOP. Spine weights ranged from 47-64.

Craftsmanship- Impeccable, probably the top 3 bows I have ever seen and shot. I am a stickler for perfection. The grip melds into your hand. I gripped it strong and loose. No change in the shot. I am grip tolerant and yours is on point. The fit and finish is beyond belief. The overlays blend flawlessly not only on the limb tips but the back of the riser and belly. The limb grinds are perfectly straight, no deviation and string alignment is perfect. Tip overlays are perfect which a ton of accomplished bowyers are lacking in the skill. It sets the greats from the rest in my opinion. Glue lines throughout are nice and tight. The Z splice on the laminations is perfect.

Shoot ability- Dead in the hand. The G-10 provides enough heft for some weight where a bow needs it. The Bow Bolt system is perfection with smooth transitions. Speed to my eye. Dang the double carbon does not only add torsional stability but that extra go go juice. I am not a speed freak but I had a hard time tracking the arrow at 10 and 20 yards. It starts smooth and starts to hit that wall for me at that 28” draw I can feel it but that is not bad. It means I am getting it all out of that limb.

Overall thoughts- You have a winner of a bow. I am glad to own it and look forward to getting everything dialed in.  I will also update you on more of my thoughts as time passes. Would love to shoot one of your static’s sometime as well. Great bow and great bowyer.
