Just got a call from Glenn Assenheimer, his father, Don, just passed away. Don and his bows will be greatly missed.
No details yet.

I fell blessed to have grown up down the road from his shop. My first custom bow was made by Donnie and I still hunt with it from time to time. Some of my best memories are sitting in his trophy room listing to his old adventures. Donnie was one of the great ones.

RIP Donnie, great guy and a great bow. Great family too!
I was fortunate enough to visit with him about 4 months ago in nursing home (my grandma was in same place) so I just happened into him while visiting Gma. I had not seen him since having my bow made in 1995 when I was in high school and we had spoken over the phone a few times since that time. He remembers the bow and asked me what poundage again just to make sure. His daughter commented that one of his bows was going into the Bucyrus Historical society also.
He will be missed by many!

RIP Don, and may the wind always blow in your face and the blood trails be short. May you rest in the Lord's arms.

My first 2 hunting recurves were Assenheimers. Him and his wife were always fantastic folks to talk with. May his legacy never die, and hopefully a few of his recurves will stay in circulation so folks can try them out.

Sad to hear. He made my first new bow 25 years ago and it was a shooter. Killed my first trad deer with it.
