Sweet & simple
« on: May 23, 2019, 04:14:48 PM »
I have at times gone to a lot of trouble to find something to hold the bow in such a way that I can see where the tip of the arrow is with respect to the centerline of the bow.

Then I discovered that I could simply prop the bow against the tailgate of my truck, load an arrow, stand behind the bow with my eye positioned so that the string bisects the centerline, and instantly see where the arrow tip was with respect to centershot.  Maybe everyone but me already knew about this, but for me it was one of those small discoveries that seem obvious, and made me wonder why it took me so long to figure out.

Nice Dave.  Guess I better sell the Jeep and buy a pick-up with a tailgate.  :goldtooth:

Yep.  Also works if you hang the bow on a peg (cheaper than a pick-up) and stand behind it, or place one tip on the sofa, table, chair, etc., and hold the other end in your hand and sight down the string, etc. One learns something new every day in this traditional game.  :bigsmyl:

Good idea. I like the fact you can back up and look. Seems to give better perspective.

Have used the tailgate many times to inspect alignment.

Very good that you have shared with others.
