The right cedar shaft?

I shoot a bow that is 55# at 28".  Dacron. I draw about 28.5" and like my arrows 29".  IF I am shooting POC do I need a 60-65 shaft or a 65-70 shaft.  This will be my first time builing my own woodies.
I forgot to put that it is a recurve.

Either would probably work.  If your bow is close to center shot, go with the heavier spine.  I'd probably go with the heavier spine regareless.  I tend to overspine by 10-15# with my longbows cut 1/8 inch from center.  Works for me.  Good luck.

The degree of centershot and type of bow and point weight will make a difference, too.  Figure 56lb + 5 for the extra inch of arrow, + 5 for centershot or 15 for past center.  Check Aromakr's Whispering Wind website for a very good wood shaft spine chart.

You can go as high 80-85# if your recurve is a center cut recurve. I have a 55#@28" Blacktail that I shoot 80-85# POC arrows out of beautifully. I like the weight of them too.
