Hmmm, marks didn’t show up.  Oh well draw a line from the minus sign to the left of the 200 feet box and also one straight through the 200 feet box from left to right.

So this yellow circle represents ground blind.  To the right of blind and behind the camera would be the orchards in the photo.  Behind and to right of circle is the rooftop of house. Buck/deer are entering and leaving this swale which comes from cedar/cattail marsh.  The trees in the swale are below orchard level so a stand would be at eye level if 10-15 feet off the ground.  Swale is blocked off behind the blind with house and debris(house is only used in summer). To the left of the entry is a 80 yard orchard edge with 6 foot drop, thus they’re using this pinch point.

This is same rub that’s in the right of previous photo and deers view from orchard.  There’s another house two hundred fifty yards in back ground on ridge.  These deer are used to homes in close proximity but they aren’t dumb.

These spots are fun and make for easy in and out as well as quiet entry. I’m literally walking less than 100 yards from the driveway to get in this ground blind.  My entry point doubles as the view of orchard for deer coming from across the road. There’s a second shooting lane down the swale with plenty of trees to provide drawing cover.  Deer coming up the swale will be visible for about 80-100 yards.

All the items of cover came from the foliage to the right of the blind including the oak tree with brown leaves, tall grasses and the previously mentioned juniper bush.

December and January are my favorite times of the season to hunt other than the rut.

I will be hunting from the ground

Good luck with your setup.

Agree with your assessment.  I have four December setup.  One tree stand in a white pine, one Double Bull blind set in an orchard and then two natural ground blinds.   70% will be on the ground.

I've spent enough time shivering in a tree in late December. My old bones can't take that any more so from now on it's my Hidden Hunter pop up blind with a doubled headed Little Buddy heater

I spent a little time Sunday afternoon setting up a feeder and ground blind. Not sure how my little wood lot will hold deer now with all the leaves off of the trees. Hoping to take a doe with Miss Hope in December!

Good luck!
